New Prime Minister Liz Truss announces ministers appointed to cabinet

New Prime Minister Liz Truss has announced her new Cabinet this evening (September 6) after she was appointed as Prime Minister by the Queen at Balmoral earlier on Tuesday.

It follows on from her first speech to the nation, in which she said that her government would "transform Britain into an aspiration nation" and that "together we can ride out the storm".

Following her victory over Rishi Sunak, the new Prime Minister was asked to form a government by the Queen following the resignation of Boris Johnson.

Truss, 47, is the UK’s 56th prime minister and its third female leader. Following her speech on Tuesday evening, which was held outside No10, Truss began immediately appointing new ministers to form her cabinet.
