Chorlton has been home to the Chorlton Irish Club since the 1950s where it was used as a place for the local Irish community to meet and socialise.However, over the last few years, the club has been plagued by financial woes and the club's debts are believed to stand in the "hundreds of thousands of pounds".In April, trustees of the club decided to list the property for sale on Colliers International website as an 'outstanding platform for redevelopment'.As the building is listed as an asset of community value, the venue can only be sold to a community organisation until October 15 when the six-month stipulation ends.Taking advantage of the stipulation, the Friends of Chorlton Irish have now shared details of how they hope to save the club.
