The latest statistics from the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) show that there are now more than 3.4 million people across Great Britain receiving between £26.90 and £172.75 each week through Personal Independence Payment (PIP).
Part of the PIP application process involves an assessment by a health professional who will then write a report and send it to the DWP decision maker.
The PIP assessment is an opportunity for applicants to talk about how their condition affects them, but it’s important to be aware that it's not a diagnosis of someone’s condition or a medical examination, it’s about the impact it has on a daily basis.
The DWP will take into consideration evidence gathered by the health professional during the assessment to decide if they should be awarded PIP.
