A mum was refused further testing by doctors after complaining of a painful lump on her breast has now been diagnosed with terminal cancer.

The disease has since spread to other parts of her body, including her brain. Faye Downing, from Sheffield, was 25 when a lump suddenly appeared on her breast.

A GP referred her to the NHS breast clinic, but they refused to perform a biopsy or mammogram, telling the Faye that she was "too young" and that the lump was "not fibrocystic".

Faye's family say the lump only got bigger after that. The mother-of-two, who had been breastfeeding at the time, returned to the breast clinic but was again turned away and told the changes in her breast were normal and the result of "breastfeeding a newborn baby".
