mirror.co.ukThe prime suspect in the disappearance and possible murder of Madeleine McCann is in prison for "brutally" raping and beating a 72-year-old tourist, it is reported.
The German man attacked the American woman in her home in Praia da Luz, Portugal in September 2005, about a year-and-a-half before Madeleine vanished in the same resort, the Braunschweiger Zeitung newspaper reported.
He was caught after a friend discovered video of separate attacks on an older woman and a young woman, who were both tied up and raped, and DNA evidence linked him to the rape of the 72-year-old.
