Mortal Kombat is getting a sequel! Deadline confirmed on Wednesday (January 26) that New Line would be moving forward with follow up to the 2021 action adventure film, which was based on the blockbuster video game franchise. He served as head writer on the Marvel/Disney+ series Moon Knight starring Oscar Isaac, Ethan Hawke and the late French actor Gaspar Ulliel.
He’s also worked on the Umbrella Academy at Netflix and written an adaptation of Stephen King‘s The Tommyknockers.
The cast of the first film included Lewis Tan as Cole Young, Jessica McNamee as Sonya Blade, Josh Lawson as Kano, Tadanobu Asano as Lord Raiden, Mehcad Brooks as Jackson “Jax” Bridges, Ludi Lin as Liu Kang, Chin Han as Shang Tsung, Joe Taslim as Bi-Han and Sub-Zero and Hiroyuki Sanada as Hanzo Hasashi and Scorpion.
