Work is well underway at the site beside Piccadilly station where the first city centre public park in more than 100 years is being built.
The 6.5 acre green space is the centrepiece of the first phase of the Mayfield development approved a year ago. Plans were also approved to build two commercial buildings and a multi-storey car park.
Work to clear and clean the 24-acre former industrial site is now complete. And the next phase will see part of the River Medlock uncovered after more than five decades hidden beneath a concrete culvert.
