New Galloway Town Hall is set to be sold off by Dumfries and Galloway Council – for just £1.The 19th century building is valued at £100,000 but “requires significant investment” to be brought up to scratch.While it is still owned by the council, the town hall has been managed by Local Initiatives in New Galloway (LING), which has been credited with giving the building a new lease of life through operating a wide range of community events.LING has secured £50,000 in funding to upgrade the town hall and has submitted several other bids for grants totalling more than £200,000.A proposal to transfer the town hall to the initiative under the Community Empowerment Act was discussed at Stewartry Area Committee last week.Council officer Colin
