The way assessments for Personal Independence Payment (PIP) and Work Capability Assessments (WCA) are delivered is set to change for people living in England, Wales and Northern Ireland from next month.

The changes do not affect people living in Scotland currently on PIP as they are due to move from the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) to Adult Disability Payment (ADP) before the end of next year.

According to the Benefits and Work forum, WCAs are administered by Maximus and PIP assessments by Atos (also known as IAS) and Capita, with Atos having the larger share of the PIP contracts.

Last year, during the contract bidding for regional assessments, the DWP confirmed the contracts would be in place from 2024 to 2029.
