A new online petition is calling for the UK Government to reform the State Pension system and link the payment rate to the National Living Wage.
Petition creator Michael Thompson, also proposes making a ‘universal State Pension’ available to everyone over the age of 60, worth £549.12 each week - equivalent to 47 hours at the National Living Wage rate.
The petition proposals would provide millions of people currently on the State Pension - and those over 60 - receive £28,554.24 each year.
The State Pension is set to rise by 8.5 per cent from April 8 and means that someone on the full New State Pension will see payments go up from £203.85 per week to £221.20 - providing an annual income of £11,502.
