Already renowned for its industrious spirit (not to mention its vibrant culture), Manchester is embracing a new era of sustainable transport with the launch of Starling Bank Bikes – the biggest commercial sponsorship deal in Transport for Greater Manchester’s history.
The new bike hire scheme covers Trafford and Salford as well as Manchester city centre, and is a key component of the Bee Network, Greater Manchester’s vision for a fully integrated public transport system.
The network is designed to connect all modes of public transport as well as walking, cycling and wheeling. This reimagining of urban mobility encourages people to reduce their carbon footprint, and especially to rediscover the joy of cycling.
With more than 700,000 rides already completed, covering more than 1.6 million kilometres, Manchester’s embrace of cycling is really starting to gather speed.
