Neve Campbell isn’t ruling out a return to the troubled Scream franchise. A seventh film in the series was in the works, but was derailed by the departures of Melissa Barrera and co-star Jenna Ortega, plus the lack of a director after Christopher Landon’s exit.
Campbell, the original Scream star, did not appear in the sixth movie because of a pay dispute. Her last appearance in the series was 2022’s fifth “Scream” film, reprising her role as final girl Sidney Prescott.
Campbell was interviewed on the red carpet by IndieWire at this weekend’s BAFTA Tea event in Los Angeles, and said she was not opposed to a return. “It’s sad to me that they’re struggling at the moment,” Campbell said. “I would imagine that the people at the top are spinning a little bit, trying to make the right decision.
I think I would imagine people want to do the right thing. I would hope. I love this franchise. I love it for Wes [Craven]. I love it for all the people who’ve been involved and even the newer cast.
