Richard Armitage is gearing up for another collaboration with acclaimed mystery writer Harlan Coben in a new Netflix thriller series. In Missing You, the Red Eye star will portray DCI Ellis Stagger, who oversees the main character, Detective Kat Donovan, played by Rosalind Eleazar. This marks Armitage's fourth venture into the world of Harlan Coben adaptations, following his roles in Stay Close, The Stranger, and Fool Me Once. The latter Coben project, where he starred alongside Michelle Keegan, skyrocketed to success as Netflix's top show of 2024, amassing over 100 million views globally.

In discussions with Reach and other media outlets, Richard delved into how Missing You presents him with a fresh challenge, distinct from his past roles such as Joe Burkett in Fool Me Once.Reflecting on his experience working with Keegan in last year's Netflix hit, he said: "I mean, I don't make an effort to disregard what went before, because you bring little, tiny capillaries with you, which is the feel of the show."You sort of just play it for the moment and you trust the creative team above you to you know, you don't question."You just play the suspense for the twist and the thrills," he elaborated. "But I've never played a police detective before.

It was nice to take on a character that had that authority."He intriguingly concluded: "But also one of the signatures that Harlan loves - the itch that he really enjoys scratching - is about secrecy."So this character was somebody that had all of the answers and he knows, you know, everything - and it's whether he chooses to excavate the ground or leave it buried.
