Netflix fans have been left so disturbed by new sci-fi horror film Splice they “wish they could forget” it. The haunting flick stars Adrien Brody and Sarah Polley as two genetic engineers hoping to achieve fame by successfully splicing together the DNA of different animals to create new hybrid animals for medical use.
The couple successfully and secretly breed a female animal-human hybrid who ages faster than humans. But after moving to an isolated farm, the creature – who has wings, gills, and a tail – grows bored of confinement and becomes violent.
Written and directed by Canadian filmmaker Vincenzo Natali – best known for his 1997 sci-fi horror Cube – Splice is executive produced by acclaimed director Guillermo del Toro.
The film was met with positive reviews upon its release, and currently holds a Certified Fresh 75 percent score on Rotten Tomatoes.
