Steven D. Binder, the NCIS showrunner, is opening up about Mark Harmon‘s involvement in the upcoming season 19 of the hit CBS series.

Speaking with TV Line, Steven got to chat about Mark and the fate of his character, Special Agent Leroy Jethro Gibbs.

Previously, it was reported that Mark would only appear in a handful of episodes. Click inside to see if that is still true… During his interview, Steven opened up about the explosive season 18 finale, which saw Gibbs floating in the river after his boat was blown up. “We shot a lot of different things for that [sequence], and there were a lot of different ways to cut it,” he said. “And what we left with was something that we felt left all possibilities open.
