National Selfie Day - and, unless you live under a rock, you most probably know what a selfie is, or have taken one at some stage.

A selfie is a portrait of oneself taken by oneself, and then shared on social media. While it’s now considered a bit ‘passe’ to take a series of photographs of yourself and to share them on all your social platforms, when it’s National Selfie Day, there’s just no limit.

Selfies first became popular as the younger generation got hold of smartphones that had built-in cameras, and that coincided with the rise in social media platforms, such as Myspace, Facebook, and eventually Instagram, where people could share their snaps.
