Nathan Lane hasn’t forgotten how his The Birdcage co-star Robin Williams helped protect him during an interview almost 30 years ago.

The 67-year-old Only Murders in the Building star opened up about appearing on The Oprah Winfrey Show to promote the movie, in which they played a gay couple, back in 1996.

This was before Nathan had come out, and he was concerned that Oprah Winfrey would ask him about his sexuality during the interview.
