The family of a man who is being held in a Vietnam prison are preparing for their first Christmas without him. James Ryan, 30, was arrested following an incident at Tan Son Nhat International Airport in Vietnam in the middle of May, the Liverpool Echo reports.
His family haven't spoken since his arrest. And now, more than seven months on, they continue to struggle for answers about his status in the detention centre and what condition he physically is in.
James' mum Carol said the family has still not spoken to him on the phone with their only contact coming in the form of hugely delayed letters.
The family are now in contact with their local MP Anneliese Midgley who has written to the Vietnamese ambassador to the UK to discuss James' case and explore ways to find a resolution.
