This was the exact predicament faced by one mum-to-be, who shared her ordeal on Reddit after her mother-in-law single-handedly made her despise the chosen name for her daughter, by using an unwanted nickname.The expectant mother had her heart set on the name Caroline for her second child, but her enthusiasm quickly faded when her mother-in-law started calling the unborn baby "Carrie".The seemingly innocent abbreviation was enough to put her off the name entirely.This wasn't the first time the mother-in-law had interfered with naming.

Previously, she had taken to calling the woman's first daughter "Wheezy" instead of Louise, which led the parents to change the name they had originally picked.

In her Reddit post, the distressed mum explained: "Long story short, it has taken my husband and me forever to find a name we like for our second daughter (due in three weeks).
