The fourth installment in the My Hero Academia franchise is coming to US theaters this fall. My Hero Academia: You’re Next will premiere October 11, 2024 in North American theaters with English subtitles and dub releases through Toho International (Godzilla Minus One), Deadline can exclusively reveal.

Set “in a devastated society where villains are rampant,” the anime sequel follows protagonist “Izuku Midoriya, a U.A. High School student who aspires to be the best hero he can be, confronts the villain who imitates the hero he once admired,” according to an official synopsis. “With the North American release of Godzilla Minus One, Toho International took its initial steps forward as a film distributor, beginning down the path Toho Company Limited has already successfully traveled for many decades within Japan,” says Koji Ueda, President of Toho International, in a statement. “Through the success of Godzilla Minus One, it became clear US moviegoers want to watch Japanese theatrical releases as intended – on the big screen with their friends and fellow fans. “This has encouraged us to bring additional Japanese titles and iconic franchises to US cinemas, and this October, we can’t wait to bring fans My Hero Academia: You’re Next for a nationwide release,” adds Ueda.

After the film’s August 4 Japan release was previously announced, Toho Animation revealed the North American premiere date on Saturday during the My Hero Academia Special Event at the 2024 Anime Expo in Los Angeles.

My Hero Academia was a manga comic book series first released in 2014 that has since sold over 100 million copies worldwide, in addition to several appearances on The New York Times Best Seller list.
