A grieving mum who spiralled to 27stone after her daughter died used her house deposit for a gastric sleeve operation instead.
Mum-of-two Amanda Smith, 49, started comfort eating after her daughter Paris died of a sudden heart attack aged just 21. She continued to put on weight until she became a size 34 and could no longer leave the house.
The 49-year-old also suffered up to 40 asthma attacks a day and feared she might only have a few months to live. She said: “I knew I wouldn’t be able to leave my bed in a year and within two years I’d be dead. “I still had one daughter, Savannah, and I didn’t want her to lose me too.” In desperation, she decided to use the savings she and her husband were going to use on a new home to have weight-loss
