A mum has shared her remarkable weight loss story after a distressing realisation about her engagement ring prompted her to take drastic action.

Jennie Hunter, from Wakefield, was horrified when she discovered she couldn't remove her ring due to her weight gain, and the thought of having it cut off was unbearable.

The 48-year-old pharmacy worker, who was a size 20, was determined to shed the pounds after a getaway with her husband Neil made her face the severity of her situation as her ring became painfully tight.

Faced with the daunting task of losing weight, Jennie embarked on a transformative journey, managing to slim down to a comfortable size 14 in just ten months.

The NHS has issued advice that people should start taking vitamin D supplements daily from this month, due to the lack of adequate sunlight until March which affects the body's ability to produce the nutrient. The health service highlighted on social media the significant health benefits of the "sunshine vitamin," noting: "From October to March we can't make enough vitamin D from sunlight. To keep bones and muscles healthy, it's best to take a daily 10 microgram supplement of vitamin D. You can get vitamin D from most pharmacies and retailers."
