A Birkenhead expat couldn't believe it when she found a snake in her Christmas tree at home. Rachael Leah Jackson, who emigrated to Australia as a 19-year-old student in 1997, found the serpent coiled around her tree.
It wasn't actually the first time a snake had been in Rachael's Sydney home. She recently saw one slither under her couch, never to find it again, reports the Liverpool Echo.
This time, it was a non-venomous green tree snake which had taken up residence in the Christmas tree at home. Mum-of-three Rachael said: "There are snakes everywhere in Sydney. "We're surrounded by national parks and my house backs on to the bush.
