Nicola Mendrek, says the care service is ‘not recovering’ after covid and she has really ‘struggled’ to provide her seven-year-old son Joel with the care he requires.
Joel, who is completely immobile due to spinal muscular atrophy type 1, needs 24-hour care and since the start of the first lockdown Nicola and her partner have been doing it themselves.
The family are desperate for support but claim the care commission which is responsible for organising care is letting them down.
