Mum of girl killed in Southport knife attack speaks for first time

The mum of Alice da Silva Aguiar, who was murdered in the Southport knife attack, has spoken out for the first time since her daughter was killed.At a Taylor Swift-themed workshop on July 29 last year, Alice, 9, was fatally stabbed along with Elsie Dot Stancombe, 7, and Bebe King, 6.

Almost seven months on, Alex Aguiar, mother of Alice, sat down with the Liverpool Echo in her first media interview since the attack as she paid tribute to her daughter who loved to dance since she was just 16 months old.Alex reminisced with her friend Sarah Radley-Buck whose daughter, Briar, was best friends with Alice while they both attended Churchtown Primary School.

Smiling and her eyes glistening, Alex recalled: "Alice started baby ballet when she was 16 months old and then just carried on."When she was four, she went to Southport Dance Academy and from then on Heidi [Liddle] was her ballet teacher.

She started doing street dance two years ago in the same dance academy but then she stopped after Heidi went off on maternity leave.
