Mum knew instantly when she woke from coma that car crash had killed her baby son

A mum who woke from a coma after a horror smash killed her baby boy said she "knew in my heart" her son had died. Five-month-old Louis Thorold died and his mum was left seriously injured after a crash involving a van and a car saw one vehicle veer into the infant's pram.

Tragic mum Rachael Thorold, 36, had been pushing her baby boy on a pavement when they were both struck by a Renault Master van that had come off the road.

The smash in Waterbeach, Cambs in January left Rachael fighting for her life and in a coma. She was reportedly in a coma for ten days and drifted in and out of consciousness for more than a month.
