A mum gave birth to a "perfect" baby girl just 10 days after discovering she was pregnant. Sam Hicks, 40, was rushed into Southmead Hospital in Bristol on January 11 where she gave birth to surprise baby Julia.

She and her husband Joe had only found out she was pregnant on January 2 after a home pregnancy test. Sam, who works at a care home, had done numerous pregnancy tests throughout the year, all of which had come back negative. “There were some signs,” said proud dad Joe, “but as Sam had done numerous pregnancy tests all which came back negative, she just put it down to stomach problems.” But when Joe, 32, felt a kick in his wife’s stomach while they were sat relaxing on New Year’s Day, Sam decided to do another test, reports Bristol
