Mum forced to make her daughter redundant as furlough scheme comes to an end

A mum has made her own daughter redundant after the coronavirus pandemic ravaged her business. Alison Platt explained to Rena that there was no more work for her as an apprentice at Mother's Little Helper.

The 49-year-old will be unable to pay her daughter's wages when the Government's furlough scheme comes to an end on October 31.

Rena, 19, is now struggling to find herself another job. Alison, from Abergavenny, South Wales, said: "For a mum to tell a child 'I’m sorry, this wonderful dream we had isn’t actually going to work out' is really disappointing.
