A mum allegedly beat her five-year-old son before poisoning him to death with antidepressants after splitting up with her partner, a murder trial has heard.
Claire Scanlon, 38, is charged with the murder of her son, Dylan, who died in Oldham in 2021. Emergency services were called after Ms Scanlon reported that Dylan was unresponsive on New Years Eve, and he was sadly pronounced dead at a house on Elm Road, Minshull Street Crown Court heard.

A police investigation ensued which revealed a large number of ‘angry’ voicemails to her ex-partner, Gary Keenan, in which she said he left her for another woman whilst she struggled to live ‘emotionally, practically and financially’ as a single mum.
