A mother abandoned her XL bullies at a park and returned home to keep drinking after one of the dogs bit a woman on the face.

Amanda Wilkie had been walking her ex-partner's dogs, named Mavis and Missy, after she had been drinking at a funeral, a court heard.

The dogs broke loose and began attacking other animals and their owners, injuring two women in the process. The 44-year-old decided to abandon the dogs and leave the scene to keep drinking at her home.

Liverpool Crown Court heard on Thursday (July 25) that Wilkie had set out with the canines in Willow Park, Newton-le-Willows just after 6pm on August 17 last year.
