A five-year-old boy who died after he was hit by a van in Newcastle has been named by police. Tragic Layton Darwood died in hospital following the fatal collision at around 4.50pm yesterday.
A 38-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the crash. Police were called to Willow Avenue in Fenham following reports of a crash involving a Ford Transit van and a young child.
He was described as a "much-loved little boy" by Northumberland Police.
