Marvel’s first Muslim-American teenage superhero is here.The first two episodes of “Ms. Marvel” dropped on Disney+ on Wednesday June 8 and it’s already bound to be as successful as the platform’s growing slate of original series such as “WandaVision” and “Loki.”Created by Bisha K.

Ali,  the series follows 16 year-old Kamala Khan (Iman Vellani) who spends her days creating Avengers fan fiction and playing video games in Jersey City.

But everything changes when she gains superpowers of her own (namely: extending her limbs, altering her appearance and shifting shape).In addition to Vellani, who makes her TV debut with this role, the series also stars Matt Lintz as her tech-savvy best friend Bruno; Yasmeen Fletcher as another friend Nakia; Saagar Shaikh as her brother; and Zenobia Shroff and Mohan Kapur as her mom and dad, respectively. “Played with infectious charm by Vellani in her first TV role, Kamala is a believably starry-eyed teenager whose bursting creativity and imagination spill over onto the screen — often literally,” Variety’s chief TV critic Caroline Framke wrote in her review. “When combined with Ali’s breezy pilot script and Adil El Arbi, Bilall Fallah and Meera Menon’s fluid directing, the seamless integration of these visuals makes it especially easy to understand Kamala from the outside in.”As with all of Marvel’s original series, you can stream the entire series exclusively on Disney+.
