BBC sitcom Mrs Brown's Boys will stay on TV until at least 2026, with annual special Christmas episodes. The confirmation comes after Irish comic Brendan O’Carroll signed a new contract to produce the annual specials, which have been a festive tradition since the show debuted in 2011.

This year the show will return to screens with new episodes on both Christmas and New Year's Day. Speaking to The Irish Sun, Brendan said he had signed a new BBC contract this month which also guaranteed any specials he made would be broadcast in the coveted timeslot of 10pm on 25 December.

Brendan, who both writes and takes the leading role, told the publication: "It’s incredible that the BBC have nailed down such a special slot for Mrs Brown." He noted
