This is according MP Yasmin Qureshi whose Bolton South East constituency has the fourth highest levels of child deprivation in the North West at 45pc.
She was speaking after the charity Action for Children released new figures pointing to a worrying upward trend in child poverty throughout the UK.
Even before the pandemic, 4.3 million children were living in poverty, up 200,000 from the previous year – and up 500,000 over the past five years, it said.
