David Lammy, MP for Tottenham, was discussing BAME issues on his LBC show when a member of the public phoned in who said he ‘will never be English’.
The caller, named Jean, said: “You will never be English, you are African-Caribbean.” In response, Mr Lammy described his background, and gave a brief history of British colonialism.
