New York Mayor Bill de Blasio has ordered movie theaters in New York to close starting Tuesday at 9 a.m. in response to the coronavirus pandemic.

New York City also took dramatic steps on Sunday to curb the spread of the virus by closing restaurants, nightclubs, small theater houses and concert venues.

Public schools will also be closed at least through April 20, affecting nearly one millions students.
