UPDATE: James has now been found safe and well, Lancashire Police have confirmed. An urgent appeal has been launched to find a missing nine-year-old boy last seen at Rivington Pike.
James, whose surname has not been disclosed, was last seen at around 12.30pm on Sunday (April 28). Lancashire Police said officers are 'really concerned' for the welfare of the schoolboy, who is autistic and mostly non-verbal.
He was last seen wearing a black helmet with blue and white stripes, a black coat that says 'adventure' on the sleeve and blue sports trousers.
He is described as being around 4ft tall, of an average build, with blonde hair. A major search has been launched with pictures of James circulated as part of the public appeal.
