Motorhome 'explodes' on quiet street as 'terrified' Scots neighbours woken by blaze

Terrified residents have told how they woke to the sound of "explosions" after a motorhome burst into flames outside a home in Dundee.

Emergency services raced to Mansion Drive in Claverhouse after the alarm was raised shortly before 4am on Wednesday. Fire crews attended and battled the blaze for several hours.Pictures taken from the scene showed the vehicle, which was parked just yards from a property on the street, engulfed in flames.

A huge plume of thick black smoke could be seen billowing up into the air while shocked neighbours watched on.An eyewitness, who lives near the scene, told the Record: "I was woken by an explosion before 4am.

I looked out my bedroom window and I panicked as I thought it was a house on fire as the flames were very large."I called 999 and they told me they had been informed and the fire brigade were on their way.
