MotoGP champ Marc Marquez had to be taken to the medical centre after the defence of his world title began with a horror crash at the Spanish GP.
The 27-year-old has won the world title in each of the last four seasons, but saw his crown for a seventh world title get off to the worst possible start in Jerez.
Marquez was in third place at the Circuit de Jerez-Angel Nieto with four laps remaining and was closing on fellow Spaniard Maverick Vinales in second.
However, the 27-year-old came unstuck at turn four as he lost the back end of his bike as he looked to get on the gas after coming out of the corner.
