Motherwell were one of the Premiership clubs who said no to reintroducing five substitutes to the league.Teams used five subs last season in order to cope with the effects of the pandemic, which put the entire campaign behind closed doors.Premiership football returned to the traditional three this season but after the winter break was moved forward one week due to a rise in Covid cases, 75% of clubs have voted in favour of a reintroduction. It will be in place for Motherwell's match with Ross County next Tuesday as the Premiership returns from its winter break.Club chief executive Alan Burrows said on social media: " 'Well were one of the clubs who did not vote for this change."Altering the parameters of subs halfway through a season was something we didn't think was right, but also now having the possibility (albeit I accept very unlikely) of there being fourteen subs in a single match."Even 10 in regular circumstances, to us has the potential to diminish the game as a spectacle – almost like a pre-season scenario."That said, it's a democracy and totally accept the will of the majority of our fellow Premiership clubs, so will get on with it."Follow Lanarkshire Live Sport onTwitter via@LanLiveSport, like us onFacebookor find us onInstagramfor the latest sports news, pictures and video.
