Motherwell to face FC Twente as Dutch pre-season trip announced

Motherwell have announced they will face Dutch top flight side FC Twente next month to kick-off their pre-season preparations.The curtain only fell on the Steelmen's 2023/24 season yesterday after a 2-1 defeat at home to St Johnstone, but it won't be long before Stuart Kettlewell's side return to action with the Fir Park side heading to Holland for a training camp on Monday, June 24.Motherwell will return to Delden, where they trained at the start of last season, for another week-long camp and they have two friendly matches booked in for their trip to Europe.They will face FC Twente on Friday, June 28 at Deurningen, with a 7pm kick-off, and that will prove a huge test for the North Lanarkshire side, with Twente finishing third in the Eredivisie this season behind second place Feyenoord and champions PSV Eindhoven.

They also finished well clear of fourth-place AZ Alkmaar and fifth place Ajax.Motherwell will close out their camp on Sunday, June 30 with a clash against DSVD Deuringen.

Both matches will take place at DSVD Deurningen’s stadium. Kerkweg 14, 7561 PT Deurningen, Netherlands. Last year, Kettlewell’s side ran out 1-0 winners over Haaksbergen and 6-0 victors against SV Longa '30.Earlier this month, Motherwell assistant boss Stephen Frail said they hoped to travel to Holland with some new signings in tow to stand them in good stead for a top-six push next season.Frail, whose side finished ninth this term, said: "Lots of targets have been identified, and hopefully we can bring some of them in and go to our pre-season trip to Holland in June possibly in a better state than we were in last year.“There were one or two that we knew were leaving the club last season, but they were with us in Holland, so we’re hoping we go
