Motherwell reunion confirmed as Dundee United send star to Morecambe

Trevor Carson has linked up with former Motherwell boss Stephen Robinson as he joins Morecambe on loan from Dundee United.The goalkeeper has made five appearances since leaving Fir Park at the start of this season and now heads south for regular minutes.He joins Robinson in League One, who is looking to keep Morecambe in the English third tier after their promotion from League Two last term.Carson joined Motherwell in 2017 - who were managed by Robinson at the time - and he appeared in two cup finals during a four-year spell that was blighted by injury.Robinson said: “He is a full-international goalkeeper who has played at top, top levels, I had Trevor previously at Motherwell, I signed him and he helped us to two Cup Finals.“He was excellent for me, my captain at times, what he brings is a vast amount of experience, he will come in and compete with Kyle [Letheren]."He just gives us a bit more experience that we haven’t got in the squad at the moment.“In terms of talent, there is absolutely no doubting that, he is a top, top goalkeeper and it was really important for us to get someone of his quality in the building.”Follow Lanarkshire Live Sport onTwitter via@LanLiveSport, like us onFacebookor find us onInstagramfor the latest sports news, pictures and video.
