Motherwell have failed in their attempt to get their Europa Conference League second qualifying round clashes switched. The Fir Park club are in the process of laying a new pitch at the stadium and are due to host either Bala Town from Wales or Irish side Sligo Rovers on July 21.Yesterday chief executive Alan Burrows revealed the club had applied to UEFA and both clubs to have the home game moved to July 28.That would have given extra time for the new surface to bed in before their first competitive home game of the season got underway. However, Burrows confirmed on social media tonight that bid had been turned down and the matches will go ahead as originally planned, which will come as a relief to disgruntled fans who informed Burrows on Twitter they had already booked trips and days off work for those dates.Commenting on UEFA's ruling, Burrows tweeted: "Confirmation from UEFA that the matches will go ahead as originally scheduled - Fir Park on 21st July and away on 28th July."Yesterday he had said to fans: "Exciting draw and great to be back in European football.

If fans could hold off booking any travel arrangements (if you haven't already)."In order to give our new pitch an additional week's growth we have made a request to UEFA and both clubs about switching the dates."There isn't confirmation of that as yet (it might not even be possible) and the dates as listed by UEFA might still stand."Follow Lanarkshire Live Sport onTwitter via@LanLiveSport, like us onFacebookor find us onInstagramfor the latest sports news, pictures and video.
