Motherwell have made their fourth capture of the January window after confirming the signing of Japanese attacking midfielder Riku Danzaki. The 22-year-old playmaker - who is the Steelmen's first-ever Japanese player - touched down in Glasgow on Wednesday morning and he has now put pen to paper on a two-and-a-half year deal.He joins from J-League side Consodole Sapporo but he was playing on loan at Australia A-League side Brisbane Roar before making the move to Scotland.Motherwell, who are currently just three points off the bottom of the Scottish Premiership table, will be hoping Danzaki can be the catalyst for them to climb the standings.Danzaki could make his debut in today's Scottish Premiership clash away to St Mirren, if international clearance is granted in time.Motherwell boss Steven Hammell said: “Riku is one we’ve tracked for a significant period of time and we’re delighted to have it finally confirmed.“He’s got really positive attributes and a different style to others we have in that area of the pitch.“He is an energetic, hard-working technical player who has an eye for goal.

He has spent the last few days with us, and already he’s fitting in well.“We are looking forward to working with him over the next couple of years.”His arrival follows the signings of defender Shane Blaney, winger Olly Crankshaw and striker Mikael Mandron.Follow Lanarkshire Live Sport onTwitter via@LanLiveSport, like us onFacebookor find us onInstagramfor the latest sports news, pictures and video.
