New Motherwell supremo Brian Caldwell has warned the SPFL they will HAVE to delay the post-split fixtures if their game against Dundee is called off.

An 11am pitch inspection is scheduled on Saturday with heavy rain putting the match in doubt. It would be the fifth game the Dens Park club will have had postponed due to a waterlogged pitch this season, with an SPFL investigation already underway into the previous four.

Reports earlier this week claimed that the Dark Blues had been seeking alternative venues in case of another wash out, although they responded to those by insisting that was just "speculation" and that no decision had yet been made. However, Caldwell has now confirmed that either moving the game to Sunday or Monday was put to the Steelmen as alternatives, or even playing behind closed doors at nearby Airdrie.

However, he ruled any of those potential solutions out, vowing to look after Motherwell's interests. In the event of the game being off, then the SPFL are facing a fixture nightmare.
