Mother and son die after 'carbon monoxide poisoning' at family home

A mother and son may have been killed by carbon monoxide poisoning in a tragedy days after Christmas. Emergency services were called to the incident on Foxholes Road, Rochdale, on Thursday, December 27.

The son, in his 60s, was found dead at the scene.The woman, in her 80s, was rushed to hospital, where she later died. The Manchester Evening News reports that the pair had been mother and son.Neighbours told how they heard a loud blast come from the home on Friday night.

The cause of the deaths is yet to be confirmed, but the M.E.N. understands a suspected carbon monoxide leak is being investigated.Images from the scene showed multiple police cars, ambulances and Cadent vans lining the road.

Witnesses reported seeing a large emergency services presence in the area.Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service confirmed it attended the scene before handing the case over to police.
