A dog described as ‘the most broken’ that a shelter has seen finally had a breakthrough moment when she took a treat from a volunteer’s hand for the first time.

Betty has been a resident at Dogs4Rescue, a shelter based in the Greater Manchester area, for 600 days but on the 601st she decided she was brave enough to approach a handler offering a tasty treat.

The moment was captured on video by the rescue and initially shared to their twitter account as a picture collage with the caption: “Betty taking a treat from our hands.
