It’s been a quite a year for movies so far, and filmgoers are hoping that the fall and holiday season theatrical releases can live up to the one-two punch of “Barbie” and “Oppenheimer” in July.

So far in 2023, horror has been strong with entries like “M3GAN” and “Talk to Me,” with fans looking forward to “Saw X” in September and “The Exorcist: Believer” in October.

Family audiences will have titles like “Trolls Band Together,” “Wish” and “Wonka” to entertain the kiddos, while those looking for historical dramas will embrace Martin Scorsese’s “Killers of the Flower Moon” and Ridley Scott’s “Napoleon.” Though the Hollywood writers and actors’ strikes are causing some release schedules to change, other major end of year titles set to hit theaters include “The Marvels,” “Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes” and “Ferrari.” Named after a killer robot child that is already taking the internet by storm, “M3gan” stars Allison Williams as a roboticist who programs M3gan to help her orphaned niece cope with a recent tragedy.

The film is produced by horror icons Jason Blum and James Wan, so those who are easily frightened should beware. Based on a true story during the 2017 Super Bowl, Jane Fonda, Lily Tomlin, Rita Moreno and Sally Field play lifelong friends who travel to see their beloved Tom Brady on the field.
