Morrisons gives £10million to food banks to help tackle coronavirus crisis

Morrisons chief executive David Potts said the firm was donating £10 million worth of produce to help restock the nation's food banks.

Speaking on BBC Breakfast, Potts said: "For many people who use the food banks that's their only store - so it is a very important part of society and we will play our part so that nobody is left behind." He added that food donation areas would also be set up in store and will be "very visible".

Morrisons isn't the only major player to take action to try and get essentials to food banks. Co-op has announced it will be donating £1.5 million worth of food to FareShare, the UK’s largest hunger fighting charity, and B&M said it would make each of its 650 stores donate £1,500 of essentials to their nearest food
