Scotland is heading back into lockdown from midnight, with schools being closed to pupils until at least February 1, all non-essential businesses shutting and the “stay at home” message once again becoming a legal requirement.
The new restrictions, which will be in place throughout the month of January, have been imposed in response to rising coronavirus rates caused by the new and more transmissible strain of the infection.
Mr MacGregor told the Airdrie and Coatbridge Advertiser: “I know this further lockdown and these sacrifices are very difficult; they will not be in place for a moment longer than absolutely necessary, but unfortunately, they are currently more vital than ever. “This is not a theoretic risk – it is the desperate reality.
